Stainless steel identification agent

Specification:

  • It allows you to distinguish two steel grades from each other:  AISI 304 and AISI 316
  • It is a chemical test that detects the molybdenum content in a piece of sheet
  • The test lasts from 5 to 10 minutes
  • 30ml package is enough for about 200 tests

The application of the agent on the surface of steel containing molybdenum (AISI 316) causes a dark brown discoloration at the site of application of the reagent, while on the surface of steel without molybdenum 304 there is no colour change at the place of application

     Test procedure:
    1. Shake the container before use
    2. Wipe the test surface with sandpaper
    3. Apply 1-2 drops of the preparation to the surface and wait 5-10 minutes
    4. Test result: No colour change at the application site for steel grade 304 (no molybdenum); the colour changes to dark brown in the case of molybdenum-containing grades, e.g. AISI 316.
